    The Maryland World Class Consortia helps organizations reach World Class performance. But what does "World Class" mean? 

    In this free online webinar, Jeff Fuchs, Director of the MWCC and a member of the Shingo Prize Board of Examiners, will describe the recently updated Shingo Prize Model and how businesses of all types can use the model to assess their current state and target improvements.

    The Maryland World Class Consortia holds regular meetings each quarter for members, potential members, supporters, and guests.  Each meeting is a half-day "mini-conference" that provide new developments among Consortia members, examples of World Class tools in action, and networking with active practitioners.

    Peter Rapp is Vice President of Operations at Thomas Medical Products, a GE Healthcare Company. Thomas specializes in devices used in vascular access, delivery and closure, and the company is over 4 years into their lean journey. In recognition of its lean progress, Thomas was recently singled out by the Institute for World Class Manufacturing for its "Journey to World Class Manufacturing Award".  Peter will describe key aspects of their lean deployment to date, and share lessons learned.

    Joe Barto is founder and president of Training Modernization Group, Inc., an organization recognized over six years for Excellence in Practice with partners across America. Joe's presentation, entitled "The Courage to Lead a Lean Journey", will identify two key root causes of derailments on the lean transformation. His discussion will point out lessons learned and recommended best practices for those who seek to accelerate their lean implementation or reenergize an existing program that is not delivering value or performance results.

    Lean Bronze Certification Review & Exam

    This is a two-day event, Tuesday, October 26 and Wednesday, October 27. It is followed by the SME, AME, ASQ, Shingo Prize Lean Bronze Certification Exam the morning of Thursday, October 28.

    The Lean Certification Program, sponsored by AME, ASQ, SME, and the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence, is an opportunity to incorporate a solid foundation of training and validation of knowledge/experience for your Lean Journey. Lean Certification will standardize practices within organizations, regardless of size or industry. This program is a credential and was designed by industry for industry. It is a standard against which professional lean competencies are measured. The certification is targeted to companies on lean journeys, and to lean champions, practitioners and consultants charged with facilitating those lean transformations.

    Lean Certification is awarded based on experience, education, and mentoring. The opportunity to share your experience with other Lean professionals is strongly encouraged during this review class. Individuals on a Lean Journey should consider this review class as the next step on their journey.

    The Lean Bronze Certification review course will explore what the certification is about, what the exam will encompass, and additional necessary steps to complete the Certification. Any and all interested individuals are encouraged to attend.

    Lean Bronze Certification Review Class:
    Tuesday, October 26: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
    Wednesday, October 27: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

    Lean Bronze Certification Exam:
    Thursday, October 28
    Exam time: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

    The exam is optional and an additional fee is required.  To take take the exam, you must apply and register at: www.sme.org/leancert. Click on "apply" for the Bronze level.  You must complete your certification application and confirm your exam date at least 3 weeks prior to October 28th to take the exam.

    Lean Bronze Certification Review Class Fees:
    $649.00 per person
    $599.00 per person for members of MWCC member companies

    Your Instructor:
    Your instructor for the Lean Bronze Certification Review Class is Jeff Fuchs, Director of the Maryland World Class Consortia, and President of Neovista Consulting, LLC.  Jeff served as part of the core team that developed the Lean Certification standard in 2006.  Since that time, Jeff has provided classroom instruction for over 200 students and helped them pass their Lean Bronze Knowledge Exams. Contact Jeff for any questions you may have regarding Lean Bronze Certification, the course, or the exam.

    Study Materials:
    Study materials for the course consist of the body of knowledge and recommended reading which are listed on the SME website. These materials must be purchased and read by attendees prior to attending the review course. Please bring these materials with you for use during the review course and the open book exam.  

    Cancellation Policy:
    The Certification Review Class enrollment fee less a $100 non-refundable registration charge will be refunded up to one week before the event. Substitutions may be made any time prior to the start of the workshop. The Maryland World Class Consortia is not responsible for incidental costs incurred by registrants.
