Lean for Biotech Forum
Biotechnology is one of the cornerstones of the Maryland economy. Many large biotech, pharma, and biomedical companies worldwide have successfully demonstrated the bottom line results of Lean Thinking tools and philosophies. However, small and early stage biotech companies often struggle to understand and apply lean to their businesses. This is especially important, given the fragile stage of any young enterprise, especially capital intensive, process-centered businesses such as biotech.
In partnership with the State's newest biotech business resource, the Maryland Biotechnology Center, the Maryland World Class Consortia offers this one day interactive networking and discussion opportunity. It includes:
- Understanding how Lean applies to biotechnology companies and their unique processes
- Presentations by small and early stage companies demonstrating lean techniques in wet labs, development processes, and the supporting processes critical to small biotech business success
- A roundtable discussion featuring business leaders, research scientists, consultants, and seasoned lean practitioners
- Networking opportunities to explore and discuss how lean applies to any small biotechnology business enterprise
